The Dr. Ramdayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute (TRI) in Ranchi is set to host the inaugural Dharti Aaba Tribal Film Festival (DATFF) in October 2025. This national-level event, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority, and Backward Class Welfare, Government of Jharkhand, aims to celebrate and promote tribal cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues through cinema. The festival invites filmmakers, animators, and storytellers from across India to submit works exploring tribal life and issues, with entries accepted in various categories including fiction, documentary, short fiction, animation, and new media films. It is intended to serve as a pan-India platform to amplify indigenous voices and foster dialogue on tribal identity and heritage.
