The Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival is an annual international festival held in Thessaloniki, Greece, dedicated to independent documentary film and emerging documentarists worldwide. Founded in 1999, it is recognized as one of the leading documentary festivals globally, attracting an audience of up to 85,000 annually. The festival features several competition sections, including International Competition, Newcomers International Competition, Film Forward International Competition for innovative and experimental documentaries, and a Virtual Reality (VR) International Competition. It also includes an industry section, the Agora Doc Market, which serves as a meeting point for film professionals and supports filmmakers from Central and Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean. The festival aims to showcase films that highlight urgent global issues and promote Greek documentary production. The 28th edition of the festival is scheduled from March 5 to March 15, 2026.
