The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) is a prominent, Oscar-qualifying festival for artistic animated film, established in 1982 in Stuttgart, Germany. It serves as a key international meeting point for the animation community, showcasing current animated short and feature-length films across various competition categories, including International Competition, Student Competition, Tricks for Kids, Trickstar Nature, and AniMovie. Alongside film screenings, ITFS offers industry-specific awards, a games zone, media education workshops, and platforms for networking and knowledge transfer through masterclasses and studio presentations. The festival, which also includes an open-air program on Schlossplatz, promotes young talents and fosters discourse on animation content, aesthetics, and techniques. It takes place concurrently with the Animation Production Days (APD) and the FMX – Film and Media Exchange conference, forming the Stuttgart Animated Week.
