The Japan Film Festival of San Francisco (JFFSF) is recognized as the first and only fully-dedicated annual Japanese film event in the San Francisco Bay Area. Held at the NEW PEOPLE Cinema in San Francisco's Japantown, the festival aims to inform the American public about Japanese popular culture through film, art, and music projects. The festival has featured notable guests such as directors Masato Harada and Shunji Iwai, and actor Tadanobu Asano. The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco has partnered with the JFFSF to present special engagements of Japanese films.
