Create The Bridgeport Film Festival Laurels

The Bridgeport Film Festival is an annual event dedicated to showcasing, guiding, and inspiring independent filmmakers and audiences from the Bridgeport, Connecticut community and worldwide. The festival, founded by Jason A. Coombs and launched in 2021, aims to promote the humanities and arts through various film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, and live music. It features narrative shorts, documentary shorts, web series episodes, experimental shorts, student films, Connecticut short films, music videos, super shorts, and environmental films. The festival actively encourages submissions from filmmakers of color and women filmmakers, with a goal to screen at least 50% projects by Black, Brown, and Indigenous filmmakers and at least 50% by female filmmakers. The fifth annual Bridgeport Film Fest is scheduled for September 12-14, 2025, and will feature over 70 short films from more than a dozen countries, with screenings and events held at locations like the Klein Memorial Auditorium.
