The South Carolina Young Filmmakers Project is an annual statewide filmmaking competition for high school students in grades 9-12 who are residents of South Carolina, including public, private, and home-schooled students. Hosted by Trident Technical College and the South Carolina Film Commission, the project launched in 2013 and aims to develop media arts skills and highlight emerging filmmakers in the state. Participants create short films, typically two minutes maximum, based on a specific creative challenge, which are then judged by a panel of independent industry professionals. The competition culminates in a screening of the top films and an awards ceremony.
