Associated with Kevin Smith and Smodcastle Cinemas, the event screens selected films in a movie theater in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, and includes an awards ceremony for various horror-specific categories like Best Feature, Best Short, Best Gore, and Best Kill. The Smodcastle Film Festival previously included a horror category, but it has since been removed to create a standalone Smodcastle HorrorFest.
