The Semana de Cine Migrante (Migrant Film Week) is a film event organized jointly by the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME), the Secretariat of Culture, and the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico. Its primary objective is to showcase the cinematic work of Mexican nationals residing abroad, highlighting films that offer a constructive perspective on their contributions to both their host communities and Mexico. The festival features a diverse range of productions, including short films, documentaries, and fiction feature films, addressing themes such as identity, cultural adaptation, and the personal challenges and achievements of migrants. The selected films are screened at the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City and often become part of a touring cycle.
