The Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF) is Italy's first international and independent film festival, dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world and connecting them with the film production and distribution industry. Established in 2001, the festival has become a significant event in Rome, attracting an audience of 10,000 and receiving approximately 2,500 submissions annually, from which 110 projects are selected for screening and 18 awards are presented. A notable feature of the festival is the "(r)evolution AI" section, a new competition dedicated to films and videos created using artificial intelligence technology. The festival is held at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila in Rome and is directed by Fabrizio Ferrari.
