The Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) is an annual, independent, non-profit film festival held for eleven days each fall in Reykjavík, Iceland, since 2004. It showcases a diverse selection of dramas and non-fiction films from over 40 countries, with a focus on independent and emerging filmmakers. The festival awards the Golden Puffin, its main prize, exclusively to first or second-time directors. Beyond film screenings, RIFF also hosts industry events, panels, workshops, concerts, exhibitions, and unique viewing experiences, such as films shown in swimming pools or barns.
