The QUEER Filmfest Weiterstadt is an annual film festival organized by passionate volunteers, featuring a diverse program of selected LGBTIQ* films and documentaries over two weeks in October. It has grown into Germany's longest queer film festival, attracting approximately 1,000 visitors, and typically takes place at the Kommunales Kino in Weiterstadt and the Programmkino Rex in Darmstadt. The festival screens around 30 fictional features, documentaries, and various short and medium-length films, often including a "Kurzfilmbrunch" and "Kurzfilmnacht" for short film presentations, and awards the "queeren Don Quijote Preis" for best long and short films.
