The Shorts::Cut Film Festival is Portsmouth's oldest film festival, established in 2005. It focuses on short films, typically under 15 minutes in length, and champions local filmmakers by showcasing their work to the community. The Portsmouth Film Society (PFS) adopted the festival ten years after its inception and continues to run it, maintaining its mission to promote regional talent. The festival is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit event, and provides an accessible platform for filmmakers to exhibit their creations, often culminating in awards at screenings held at the Southsea Community Cinema.
