The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the world's oldest film festivals, first held in 1935, with Sergei Eisenstein serving as the jury chairman. While initially irregular, the festival became a consistent event in 1959 and has been held annually since 1999. Its top prize is the Golden St. George, a statuette representing Saint George slaying the dragon. In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films (FIAPF) paused the festival's accreditation.
