The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the world's oldest film forums, with its history dating back to 1935, although it became a regular event in 1959. Initially held biennially, it has been an annual festival since 1999. The festival's highest honor is the Golden Saint George award, represented by a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon. Nikita Mikhalkov has served as the festival's president since 2000. In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) paused the festival's accreditation.
