The Mississippi International Film Festival (MIFF) brings together international and domestic independent films and filmmakers, having hosted a variety of guests over its six years of operation. Previously held in Jackson, Mississippi, and later at the Tinseltown Cinema in Pearl, Mississippi, the festival underwent a period of transition in 2016, postponing its events to evolve into a new interactive film festival format. This proposed format aimed to partner with a television station to air blocks of films live, allowing viewers to vote on winners via text and email. The festival has offered a $1000 cash prize for "Best Film" in honor of Neil Bloomer, a head screener.
