The Miami Film Festival, formerly known as the Miami International Film Festival, is an annual cinematic event held in Miami, Florida, with a significant focus on independent American, international, and particularly Ibero-American films. Founded in 1984 by Nat Chediak and Steven Bowles, the festival showcases a diverse selection of features, documentaries, and short films from numerous countries. It aims to support both emerging and established filmmakers, foster creative expression, and bridge cultural understanding. The festival also hosts various master classes, panel discussions, and workshops. Since 2015, it also runs a smaller Fall Festival called Miami Film Festival GEMS.
