The Melbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF) is an independent, not-for-profit annual animation festival held in Melbourne, Australia, established in 2001 to celebrate and promote the art of animation. It has grown to become a significant animation event, showcasing a diverse selection of films from both local and international filmmakers, typically screening hundreds of films across various programs including international competitions, student showcases, and curated sessions. MIAF has also historically hosted the RENDER Animation Conference. In 2022, the festival faced challenges and cancelled its event due to the withdrawal of key public funding, including support from Screen Australia.
