Macabro: Mexico City International Horror Film Festival, also known as Macabro MX, is the first and largest festival dedicated to genre cinema in Mexico and a key reference in Latin America. Founded in 2002 by Edna Campos, the festival focuses on exhibiting contemporary and independent horror films, while also promoting classic and cult cinema. Held annually in August across various venues in Mexico City, it includes film exhibitions, Q&A sessions, master classes, and retrospectives. Macabro is an independent cultural organization recognized and supported by the Mexico City Government, the Mexican Film Institute, and the National Film Archive, among others.
