The Luna Awards are annual film honors presented by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to recognize outstanding achievements within the Filipino film industry. Established in 1981 by executive order and first presented in 1983, the awards were initially known as the FAP Awards before being renamed the Luna Awards in 2005. Often considered the Philippine equivalent of the Oscars, they celebrate excellence in various categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress. The Luna Awards are peer-voted and aim to foster Filipino cinematic excellence.
