The Karama Human Rights Film Festival, first established in Amman, Jordan, in 2009 by Ma'mal 612, focuses on human dignity and a broad range of human rights issues, including those affecting children, women, and refugees. Since its inaugural edition in 2010, the festival has served as a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences on human rights through film and culture, screening various features, documentaries, and short films. Beyond film screenings, Karama organizes parallel cultural events such as theatre, art exhibitions, and music installations, along with seminars and workshops. The festival also initiated the Arab Network for Human Rights Films, known as ANHAR, and has supported the creation of similar Karama festivals in other locations including Gaza, Mauritania, Beirut, Yemen, and Tunisia.
