The International Istanbul Film Festival is an annual cinematic event organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) in Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 1982 as a film week, it became a standalone festival in April by 1984, introducing competitive national and international sections in 1985 with the Golden Tulip awards. The festival aims to encourage the development of cinema in Turkey, foster international recognition for Turkish films, and promote quality foreign films within the Turkish market. Accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in 1989 as a specialized competitive festival, it is Turkey's longest-running international film gathering, showcasing around 130 titles annually.
