The İstanbul Film Festivali is the first and oldest international film festival in Turkey, organized annually by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) in April. Established in 1982, it gained recognition as a competitive specialized festival by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in 1989. The festival's program includes international and national competitions, as well as non-competitive sections featuring documentaries, shorts, and feature films. It also presents "Lifetime Achievement Awards" and "Cinema Honorary Awards" to international cineastes, actors, and actresses. In recent years, the festival has adopted a hybrid format, offering screenings in movie theaters and through its digital platform.
