The Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF), initially established in 2010 as the Vietnam International Film Festival, is a biennial event held in Hanoi, Vietnam, typically around October or November. Organized by the Department of Cinema, its primary goals include honoring cinematic achievements, discovering new talents, fostering cooperation among filmmakers, and promoting Vietnamese cinema on an international scale. The festival showcases films of various genres, including feature, short, documentary, and animated works. While initially focused on the Asia-Pacific region for its competition category, HANIFF expanded its scope in 2016 to accept entries from all countries and regions worldwide. The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival took place from November 7-11, 2024, featuring films from 51 countries and territories.
