The Hamburg International Short Film Festival, also known as Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, is one of Germany's two major short film festivals, renowned for its audience-oriented approach. Since its foundation, it has celebrated short films as an independent art form, offering a platform for filmmakers globally to connect with audiences and each other. The festival features international and German competitions, an experimental 'Deframed' competition, and the unique "Three-Minute Quickie" competition. Organized by the ShortFilmAgency, Germany's prominent short film distributor, the event attracts around 15,000 visitors annually, showcasing approximately 400 films across various programs. It also hosts the Mo&Friese Hamburg Children's Short Film Festival, providing programs for different age groups. The 42nd edition is scheduled to take place from June 2 to 7, 2026.
