The Haifa International Film Festival is an annual cinematic event held in Haifa, Israel, typically taking place in the autumn during the Sukkot holiday. Established in 1983, it was the first film festival of its kind in Israel. The festival showcases a diverse program including feature films, documentaries, animation, and short films, attracting a wide audience of filmgoers and media professionals. It hosts approximately 300,000 visitors, featuring around 280 screenings across five venues, alongside open-air screenings and industry events. The Haifa Arts Foundation supports the festival, offering grants and prizes, particularly for Israeli feature films. In 2024, the festival was postponed due to security concerns and rescheduled from October to December 31 through January 11.
