The Australian Women's Film Festival (AWFF) is an event dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and celebrating female storytellers and leaders within the film industry by providing a platform to showcase their talent both in front of and behind the camera. The festival presents various accolades, including the Groundbreaker Award, which has been bestowed upon individuals such as Tracey Corbin-Matchett for her advocacy for greater representation of people with disabilities in the screen industry, and to Nadine Bates and Kristen Souvlis of Like a Photon Creative for their contributions to animation. Films submitted to the AWFF must feature at least three key creatives who identify as female and, if fictional, must pass the Bechdel test.
