Create Giuseppe Šebesta Prize for anthropological cinema Laurels

The Giuseppe Šebesta Prize for anthropological cinema is a new international award dedicated to ethno-anthropological audiovisual works, with its inaugural edition scheduled from November 27 to 30, 2025, at the METS – Museo etnografico trentino San Michele in Italy. The prize honors Giuseppe Šebesta (1919-2005), an ethnographer, filmmaker, artist, and founder of the museum. It aims to recognize documentaries and works of visual anthropology that explore identities, tensions, and transformations in contemporary societies, alongside a "Youth Prize" for productions by film schools, universities, and academies. The first edition garnered significant international interest, receiving 1,987 entries from 115 countries.
