Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is an annual event that takes place in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island, as well as other locations across the state. Established in 1997, it is produced by Flickers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization dedicated to supporting and promoting film arts in Rhode Island and New England. RIIFF is recognized as an Academy Award-qualifying festival for Live Action, Documentary, and Animation Short Films, and is also a qualifying event for BAFTA and the Canadian Screen Awards. The festival has been cited as one of the "Best International and Short Film Festivals in the United States" and is the largest film festival in New England. It screens hundreds of films from numerous countries, including many world and North American premieres, and hosts thousands of filmmakers and crew members.
