Filmfest Dresden is an international short film festival held annually in Dresden, Germany, founded in 1989. The festival focuses on short feature films and animated films, featuring both international and national competitions. It is recognized as one of Europe's most well-endowed short film festivals, with prize money totaling over €67,000. The "Golden Horseman" award, named after Dresden's equestrian statue, is presented for the best animated and feature films. Beyond the competitions, Filmfest Dresden offers a variety of special programs, including thematic focuses, retrospectives, and youth films, and attracts around 20,000 visitors each April.
