The Gijón International Film Festival, also known as FICXixón, is an annual film festival held in Gijón, a city in northwest Spain. The festival, mainly concentrated on independent and auteur cinema, was first established in 1963 as an initiative of the Gijón City Council. It gained a reputation as one of the most prestigious independent film festivals in Spain and Europe by the early 2010s, sometimes referred to as the "Spanish Sundance". The 63rd edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from November 14 to 22, 2025. FICX aims to showcase a wide selection of auteur cinema globally, with a particular focus on innovative films and emerging filmmakers, and its International Short Film Competition is a qualifier for both the Oscar and Goya Awards.
