The Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata (Mar del Plata International Film Festival) is a prestigious international film festival held annually in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Established in 1954, it is the only competitive "Category A" film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in Latin America and the oldest in this category in the Americas. The festival is organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and promotes cinematic activity in all its forms, showcasing films of diverse origins, themes, and styles. It features various sections including International, Latin American, Argentine, and Altered States Competitions, with awards such as the Ástor in honor of Ástor Piazzolla.
