Festival do Rio, officially known as the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was established in 1999 through the merger of two existing film festivals, the Rio Cine Festival (founded in 1984) and the Mostra Banco Nacional de Cinema (founded in 1988). Since its inception, the festival has showcased both Brazilian and international productions, solidifying its designation as an "International Film Festival". Festival do Rio is recognized as one of the largest cinema events in Latin America and a significant gathering for audiovisual professionals in Brazil.
