DocuWeeks was an annual theatrical documentary showcase presented by the International Documentary Association (IDA) in New York City and Los Angeles. Its primary mission was to qualify short and feature-length documentaries for consideration for the Academy Awards®. The showcase premiered in 1997, and over its history, films presented at DocuWeeks received numerous Oscar nominations and several wins. The event aimed to bring American audiences a selection of international documentaries that collectively explored global and national political and social issues.
