CURTA CINEMA, also known as the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival, is an annual competitive film festival exclusively dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of short-length audiovisual works. The festival showcases films with a maximum running time of 30 minutes. Notably, the winners of its National and International Grand Prix are qualified to enter the competition for an Oscar nomination by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. With a history spanning 35 years, the festival's programming includes international and national competitions, Latin American and Rio panoramas, youngsters' panoramas, and special programs. Beyond screenings, CURTA CINEMA also hosts workshops, debates, and lectures, fostering discussion and exchange within the short film format.
