The Costa Rica International Film Festival (CRFIC) is an annual cinematic event held in San José, Costa Rica, celebrating contemporary, independent cinema that explores social themes. Established in 2013, the festival aims to be a prominent platform for Central American and Spanish-speaking Caribbean cinema. The 13th edition, scheduled from June 19 to 29, 2025, will feature a diverse selection of films, workshops, talks, and discussions across various venues, and for the first time, will be directed by a woman, Patricia Velásquez Guzmán. The festival also includes competitive sections for Central American, Costa Rican, and national short films, and in 2025, Spain is the guest country, with a focus on films directed by women.
