The Count Basie Center BREAKTHROUGH Film Fest, formerly known as the Count Basie Center's High School and College Film Festival and Project FX, is an annual youth-based film festival hosted by the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey. Dedicated to educating and illuminating young, creative, and exemplary New Jersey filmmakers, the festival provides professional pathways, diverse workshops, roundtables, and development platforms for emerging talent. It screens films from students in middle school, high school, and college, and awards trophies in various filmmaking categories such as Best Narrative Film, Best Documentary, Best Acting Performance, and Best Direction. The festival has also hosted celebrity guests and representatives from production companies like Sony Pictures Classics and Netflix.
