The FilmFestival Cottbus, also known as the Cottbus International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cottbus, Germany, since 1991. It is recognized as a leading international festival for Eastern European cinema, focusing on feature films from post-socialist countries in Europe, including successor states of the former Soviet Union, and neighboring nations like Finland, Greece, and Turkey. The festival serves as a significant meeting point for both general audiences and industry professionals, showcasing around 120 films from over 40 co-production countries. It features various competition categories for feature, short, and youth films, alongside workshops, masterclasses, and discussions, with prizes totaling over 60,000 euros. The festival also hosts "connecting cottbus," a co-production market for Central and Eastern European cinema.
