The CINE-U Film Festival is an intercollegiate student competition founded in 2007 by Januar Yap. It is open to all students and features categories for short films, music videos, infomercials, and documentaries. The festival is organized by Cebu Normal University (CNU) and screens entries from various universities across the Philippines. The 17th edition, held in 2025, showcased 38 short films with a focus on sociopolitical themes, aligning with the year's theme, "Frames of Reality and Progressive Filmography." The festival aims to highlight student filmmaking efforts and provide a platform for emerging talent, emphasizing the human labor and creativity behind the works in an age of increasing AI influence.
