CINANIMA – Espinho International Animation Film Festival is an internationally recognized animation film festival held annually in Espinho, Portugal. Co-organized by NASCENTE – Cooperative Society with Cultural Purposes and the Espinho City Hall, the festival was first established in 1976 and has continuously worked to promote animation cinema and its creators. It is considered a precursor of cultural decentralization in Portugal and is an Oscar-qualifying festival by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. CINANIMA showcases both international and national competitions, including categories for short films, feature films, and student films, and also features exhibitions, workshops, and masterclasses.
