The Semaine de la Critique (Critics' Week), established in 1962 and known as International Critics' Week until 2008, is a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to discovering new filmmaking talent. Organized by the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics, it primarily showcases directors' first or second feature films. This section has been instrumental in revealing many renowned filmmakers, including Jacques Audiard, Alejandro González Iñarritu, Ken Loach, and Wong Kar Wai. It presents various awards, including the Grand Prize.
