National Canadian Film Day, also known as CanFilmDay, is an annual, one-day celebration of Canadian cinema held across the country. Organized by REEL CANADA, a charitable organization, its aim is to make homegrown films more accessible and to promote national pride by showcasing Canadian contributions to cinema. The event encourages individuals, organizations, and schools to host screenings, offering access to films and educational resources. First launched in 2014 with 70 screenings, it has since grown to include thousands of community events and screenings annually, reaching tens of thousands of Canadians and extending globally through embassies and missions. The initiative focuses on allowing Canadians to reflect on their identity and values through their own cinematic storytelling.
