The Bushwick Film Festival is an independent film festival based in Brooklyn, New York, founded in 2007. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, it aims to discover emerging voices, share stories, and build community through film. The festival is an MWBE-certified organization, distinguishing itself as one of the few U.S. film festivals led by women of color. Each year, it showcases approximately 100 independent films selected from over 1,000 submissions originating from more than 60 countries, attracting thousands of attendees. The five-day event, typically held in October, features film screenings, industry panels, workshops, networking opportunities, a screenplay competition, and an awards ceremony.
