The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), formerly known as the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), is an annual film festival held in Haeundae District, Busan, South Korea, and is recognized as one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. Established in 1996, it was the first international film festival in Korea. BIFF focuses on introducing new films and first-time directors, particularly from Asian countries, and attracts a large youthful audience. The festival moved to its permanent home, the Busan Cinema Center, in 2011. In 2025, for its 30th anniversary, BIFF will introduce a new competition section for Asian cinema, presenting awards such as the Grand Prize and Best Director. The festival generally takes place over ten days between September and October, showcasing approximately 240 films from 70 countries.
