The Belfast Film Festival (BFF) is Northern Ireland's largest film festival, with an annual audience exceeding 25,000. Established in 1995 as part of Féile An Phobail, it evolved into the Belfast Film Festival in 2000, expanding into a citywide event. The festival presents a diverse program that includes specialized and independent cinema from around the globe, attracts film premieres and high-profile guests, and promotes local talent. In addition to its main program, the BFF also runs Docs Ireland, an international documentary festival, and an array of inclusion projects and year-round events. The festival is known for its site-specific screenings and its commitment to promoting film education and nurturing filmmaking skills. In 2022, the festival launched an International Competition program.
