The Arouca Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cinema de Arouca) is an international film festival held annually in the town of Arouca, Portugal, typically in the second week of September. Established on February 28, 2003, by the Associação Académica de Arouca, it evolved from "Open Air Cinema Nights" held in partnership with the Arouca Municipal Council in 2002. Currently organized by the Cine Clube de Arouca, founded in 2009, the festival is recognized as a significant cultural event in the region and a reference in the contemporary cinematographic landscape. It aims to stimulate film production, support new works of quality, and promote independent productions, while also fostering cultural decentralization and showcasing Arouca's natural and cultural heritage. The festival has expanded its reach, including recent editions that extended to locations beyond Portugal, such as Luanda, Angola.
