Organized by the Singapore Film Society as part of its Animation Nation festival, the awards provide a stage for both emerging and established animators. In 2025, the ANSEA Awards collaborated with DreamWorks Channel to introduce a new short film category, inviting filmmakers from ASEAN nations to submit original animated short films exploring the theme of "family". Winners receive prizes such as mentorship sessions with a DreamWorks animator and screening opportunities at the Animation Nation festival, with the grand prize winner also gaining on-air exposure on the DreamWorks Channel.
