The Ann Arbor Black Film Festival, founded in 2024, is an event dedicated to showcasing the creativity and diversity of Black cinema and providing a platform for emerging and established filmmakers. The festival aims to celebrate the rich heritage of Black storytelling and operates concurrently with the African American Downtown Festival. It accepts original films primarily from diasporic African filmmakers or those with predominantly African descent casts. The festival screens films from various states and countries at locations including the State Theatre, Third Mind Books, and the Ann Arbor District Library.
