The Aceh Film Festival (AFF) is an international film festival established in 2015 with the aim of fostering a vibrant film ecosystem in Aceh, Indonesia. Initiated in response to the growth of film communities following the armed conflict and tsunami disaster in Aceh, the festival provides viewing experiences to the community, especially in a province that historically lacked cinemas. The AFF features international short film competitions, with themes encouraging diverse perspectives, and includes special programs such as "Aflamu" which showcases films from the Middle East and conflict zones, and "Gampong Film" for village screenings. The festival serves as a platform for cultural exchange, critical discourse, and the promotion of local and international cinematic works.
