The Venice International Film Festival, known in Polish as Międzynarodowy Festiwal Filmowy w Wenecji, is one of the world's oldest film festivals, established in 1932 by Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata as Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica. It takes place annually on the island of Lido, typically between late August and early September, as part of the Venice Biennale. The festival's most prestigious award is the Golden Lion (Złoty Lew), recognizing the best film in competition.
