The 48 Hour Film Project is an annual international filmmaking competition that challenges teams to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 48 hours. Originating in 2001, participants are assigned a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue at the start of the competition, which must be incorporated into their film. Held in over a hundred cities worldwide, the best film from each participating city advances to Filmapalooza, a global festival that celebrates the year's winning films, with some ultimately screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.
